The role
We are looking for a candidate to join the Asset Performance Team based at our Lichfield Office in the Midlands Region. You’ll provide specialist advice and knowledge to the team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of our maintenance and flood defence projects in line with our Health and Safety and Financial management procedures.
You’ll also be responsible for providing specialist input to our nationally delivered projects through the role of the Senior User. In addition you’ll liaise with and support our in house workforce through the creation and development of our routine programme.
A large part of the role will involve engaging with our customers to both help communicate flood risk and to investigate/deliver flood risk improvements.
You’ll also mentor and coach others on policies, procedures, practices and techniques equipping them with the knowledge and skills to deliver their work in an effective and efficient manner.
The team
We are responsible to ensure FCRM assets are inspected, surveyed, assessed, maintained and operated in a safe, effective and efficient manner to reduce flood risk for people and property and ensure they work to agreed service levels and standards. During a flood, we would operate our assets to deliver the EA’s tactical/operational response in partnership with other responders.
Experience/skills required
Applicants would be expected to have a civil engineering qualification, preferably BEng or equivalent standard, it will also be desirable for candidates to have, or be working towards, a professional qualification or membership with a relevant professional body.
You’ll be an experienced Project Manager with knowledge of the PRINCE2 Project Management methodology and a confident communicator, with excellent customer service skills, as you'll be working with internal and external partners, as well as with members of the public.
You’ll have background in asset management with good planning and organisational skills and are able to demonstrate a meticulous, conscientious and logical attitude to your work. You'll have a good working knowledge of a range of IT packages, including MS Office, AutoCAD and Arc GIS.
Your excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal abilities will be complimented by your enthusiasm and ambition to achieve defined deadlines and targets.
Additional useful information
The successful applicant will be expected to be involved in our incident response remit and will be required to fulfil an out of hours’ rota role.
