EFI hosts the EU FLEGT Facility, which supports the European Commission, EU Member States and
partner countries in the implementation of the EU FLEGT Action Plan. The EU FLEGT Facility is funded by
the European Commission with co-funding from the Governments of the UK, the Netherlands, Finland,
France and Germany. The Facility aims at having reforms adopted that improve forest governance and
the functioning of timber markets, ensuring that illegal logging and associated trade are adequately
tackled in the countries which produce timber and timber products for export into the EU. The Facility
currently supports activities in Africa, Asia and Central and South America.
Tasks and responsibilities
EFI is looking for a FLEGT facilitator to support the implementation of the EU FLEGT VPA process in
Vietnam. The focus will lie on providing support to the Government, the EU and stakeholders of Vietnam
at each step of the FLEGT VPA process, from organizing consultations, supporting work of both
negotiations teams and facilitating at country level all FLEGT related activities. The overall objective is to
ensur that exports of timber products to the EU are made of legally harvested timber, according to
jointly agreed VPA requirements.
