Qualifications A post graduate degree in a fisheries-related subject or equivalent qualification. Specific Experience - At least 10 years proven professional work experience in fisheries management and implementation of fisheries projects - Technical knowledge of tropical tuna fisheries, especially the purse-seine and longliner fisheries - Having worked and contributed in at least one project preferably tuna research methods, in particular those used for stock assessment and modelling and the role of tag recovery information in these analyses. - At least 6 months experience in fish (preferably tuna) tagging experiments at a management level, including scheduling and supervision of staff activities, logistics, supply and inventory control. - Knowledge of Indian Ocean tropical tuna and live bait fishing methods is highly desirable. - Experience of at least one EDF-financed Project, including knowledge of EDF procedures, would be desirable - A mastery of either English or French (written and spoken) with a working knowledge of the other and ability to communicate in both languages. A working knowledge of Spanish would be useful At least 5 years experience working in the region The composition of the team of experts should be balanced to enable complete coverage of the different aspects of project evaluation (evaluation methods and techniques) as set out in these terms of reference, including cross-cutting issues. The team as a whole should possess a sound level of knowledge and experience in the IOC region and fisheries in particular tuna fisheries.
