Description

ClientEarth is looking for two reliable, self-motivated lawyers who thrive in a team environment to join our Fisheries team.

UK Fisheries Lawyer (London-based)

The post holder will advocate for the protection of the UK’s marine environment and good management of fisheries as the UK prepares to leave the European Union. The UK Fisheries Lawyer will be active in ClientEarth’s legal and policy research in relation to Brexit and the marine environment, with a strong focus both on carrying out advocacy of ClientEarth’s recommendations to decision-makers and on collaborating with other NGOs.

Fisheries Project Lead (Brussels-based)

The post holder will oversee the extensive work of our fisheries team, which includes the implementation of the EU’s Common Fisheries Policy and the EU’s fisheries control legislation, as well as the development of the UK’s national fisheries law as it prepares to leave the EU. In addition to managing the lawyers and scientists on the fisheries team, the Fisheries Project Lead will be active in directing the team’s legal and policy research, meeting with decision-makers, collaborating with partners and engaging with social and traditional media.

The successful candidates for these roles will be qualified lawyers with at least 3-5 years' experience of relevant legal practice, excellent legal analysis skills and will be keen to use these to support public interest environmental advocacy work. They will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be professional and confident and ideally already have some knowledge or experience with fisheries management and/or marine conservation.
