We welcome entry-level candidates and experienced Observers. Our remuneration package is structured to recognize and promote experience and performance. We commit significant effort to the selection and recruitment process and offer excellent logistical support for our employees deployed to the field. TechSea International accepts applications for employment year round for Fisheries Observer positions.

CONTRACT DURATIONS
Initial contracts are typically about four months in duration. This includes the initial 3-week training period followed by a deployment to the field of up to 90-days, and ending with a debriefing at the appropriate government facility. Contracts are sometimes tailored to the anticipated duration of the fishery, so in some cases the duration will be less. In some instances a contract will be for a period as short as 9 days. Observers must remain in good standing with the certifying government agency (either NMFS or ADF&G) in order to be eligible to sign up for additional contracts. Subsequent contracts will also require that Observers attend a government briefing in preparation for additional deployments.
COMPENSATION
The starting daily rate for newly trained Observers is $130 per day while on deployment to the field. The pay rate is increased incrementally over time with the first raise after only 60 days. As Observers continue to accumulate time in the field their pay rate will continue to increase to $200 per day. Some of our Observers have spent over 200 days on deployment in a year. TechSea provides allowances for training and towards work related gear expenditures. Per diems are paid during training, travel for days spent ashore between trips.
TRAVEL & ACCOMODATIONS
Accommodations are provided during training and throughout the contract period. Travel is covered between the points of training, briefing and debriefing in Seattle or Anchorage. TechSea also arranges travel for Observers to and from their assigned vessels.
TechSea maintains two fulltime bunkhouses, one in Seattle and a second in Anchorage. These have clean and comfortable sleeping quarters with access to a kitchen & laundry facilities, cable television, telephone, computer, and Internet access. Training facilities are a 30-minute walk from the Seattle bunkhouse, and only 15 minutes away from the Anchorage bunkhouse. As well both bunkhouses are near bus routes.
