Description

Chemonics seeks mid- and senior-level fisheries management experts for an anticipated five-year, USAID-funded sustainable fisheries program in Bangkok. The program aims to increase the ability of regional fishery organizations to conserve marine biodiversity and combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing in the Asia-Pacific region. It will focus on implementing a fishery catch documentation and certification system to improve food security and fisheries management, and liaise heavily with the private sector and actors from across the seafood value chain in both domestic and international markets. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include: 

  • ?Provide day-to-day project, activity, and resource planning and management
  • Develop scopes of work and provide technical and financial oversight for project staff, local consultants, and local subcontractors
  • Review invoices, reports, and technical deliverables
  • Serve as liaison to key project partners and counterparts
Qualifications: 
  • Advanced degree in environmental science, environmental policy, business, or management
  • Minimum five years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in senior roles on fisheries management programs (ideally implementing catch documentation and traceability systems)
  • Experience in supply chain management and building lasting linkages with the private sector 
  • Knowledge of ICT tools applicable to fisheries and supply chain management, ideally in developing country contexts
  • Regional experience in Asia; USAID experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Southeast Asian public and private fisheries stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional written and oral language skills 
  • ?Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
