The Fisheries Laboratory Analyst (L.A.) will work closely with the Analyst team on data delivery to our main client DAFM (Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine) and ICES (International Council for the Exploration of the Seas) in relation to provision of data for fish stock assessment and advice.

The job will be focused on providing logistical support to all FEAS surveys, facilitating the mobilisation and de mobilisation of surveys, by ensuring all relevant equipment is on board, is fully serviced and working correctly.

The role will also focus on data collection mostly on land with some requirements to collect data at sea on board commercial vessels, and the collation and validation of this data, ashore. The Fisheries Analyst will also participate on FEAS surveys on board the research vessels. These activities will deliver part of Ireland’s obligations under the Data Collection Multi Annual Programme (DCMAP) funded under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF 2014 to 2020).

Team Lead Demersal Fisheries

The Team Lead Demersal Fisheries will be an integral part of the FEAS team that will assist with service delivery to our main client DAFM (Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine). As part of Fisheries Ecosystems Advisory Services (FEAS) the successful applicant will lead a team of scientists with the principal tasks of conducting assessments and providing advice on demersal fisheries.

The Team Lead will also provide information and advice on the implementation of the landing’s obligation and development of Regional Fisheries Management Plans; Mixed Fisheries Plans and Regional Discard Plans. The Team Lead will secure funding and conduct and mentor research in demersal fisheries and work closely with industry and environmental NGO’s.

STO - Ocean Energy 

The successful candidate will work within the Oceanographic Services section’s Ocean Energy (OE) team, as a Scientific and Technical Officer, supporting the various MI services delivered under the Offshore Renewable Energy Development Plan (OREDP) and specifically those areas captured within the Service Level Agreement between the SEAI and MI.

The individual in association with OSIS staff and managers and various partners and service providers will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a range of operational marine services and supports to underpin elements of the OREDP.
