POSITION DESCRIPTION
AMEC Earth & Environmental, Inc. seeks to hire a biologist with an advanced degree in fisheries or aquatic science to join an outstanding team of natural resource professionals based in the Pacific Northwest.  Our fish and wildlife group provides a broad range of environmental services, with specialized focus on fishery science, salmonid populations, freshwater and marine habitat assessment and restoration, fish passage, and environmental planning, permitting and compliance.  This position would entail managing and providing technical support for projects involving anadromous and resident fish populations and associated habitats.   Knowledge and proven expertise with GIS would be considered a plus, as would recent experience working as a consulting biologist in the intermountain west, California, Alaska, and the Pacific Northwest.  Activities include the collection and analysis of scientific data, preparation of proposals, work plans and scientific publications, and advising and representing clients on a wide variety of technical issues.  The selected individual would collaborate with colleagues and other parties on larger projects, but would also be able to manage their own projects, completing tasks on time and within budget.

REQUIREMENTS
• MS or PhD in in fisheries biology or closely related field, with an emphasis in salmonid behaviour, ecology and conservation;
• Familiarity with fisheries field equipment and sampling procedures, data management and statistical analysis, stream ecology, habitat restoration design and construction, and regulatory requirements;
• Fundamental knowledge and technical skills in one or more of the following areas:  fisheries management, freshwater and marine habitat restoration, fish passage requirements and facilities, hydropower and land use effects on aquatic ecosystems, water resource management, natural resource conservation, instream flows, water quality and environmental permitting.
• Effective verbal/written communication, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills;
• Ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and timelines.
• Ability to perform multiple projects with clear expectations and timelines.
• Physical ability to carry out field work.
