The Kent and Essex Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (KEIFCA) has extensive marine conservation duties and has a responsibility to ensure that the exploitation of fisheries resources is undertaken in a sustainable manner.
This position offers an opportunity for interesting and highly varied employment for a person wishing to be involved at the front line of inshore fisheries and Marine Protected Area management and enforcement. You will assist the vessel?s skipper with the management, day-to-day maintenance and running of KEIFCA?s Kent-based 17m sea going patrol vessel and her crew working between Harwich and Dungeness, acting as a lead enforcement officer as well as taking part in shore based enforcement activities. Our organisation works closely with local stakeholders and carries out scientific research and surveys. Although not a primary duty, the First Mate would also be closely involved in delivery of these activities. This is a highly adaptive role which will make a tangible difference to the real-world management of fisheries and MPAs within the KEIFCA district.
The first round interviews for this post will be held week commencing 9 December 2013 in Ramsgate, Kent, with any second round interviews taking the form of a day at sea. For further information and to download an application form please visit our website: www.kentandessex-ifca.gov.uk.
