The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.
S/he works closely with the Regional Director on regional financial and budget analysis. Performs high level financial analysis, compares estimates to actual results, and recommends corrective action as appropriate. Responsible for the management, maintenance and reporting of specific financial data related to the regional Office. This may include annual budget development, monitoring and maintaining all financial information and processing of internal financial forms. Provides recommendations related to finances in the overall organizational planning, policy development and implementation. Serves as a resource for the Region, performing financial activities when there is turnover of staff in other Operating Units. May be involved in analysis and evaluation of special projects as requested. This position reports to the Regional Finance and Operations Director for Latin America and reporting will move to the Regional Finance and Operations Manager in the medium term. This position is based in Rio de Janeiro and is not eligible to relocating benefits.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics or Administration plus 3 years related experience or equivalent combination.
Experience with accounting/financial issues and analysis.
Technical experience with spreadsheet programs, general ledger reports and other financial management tools.
Expert knowledge of GAAP and understanding of fund accounting principles, practices and regulations.
