About the role

The Finance Officer is a key member of the Finance team and manages the different stages of the grants process and consultant contracting. This role reports to the Finance Manager.

Key responsibilities

  • You review grant requests during the docket review process which includes checking budget proposals, payment schedules and other financial requisites;
  • You generate grant agreement documents using our internal grant management software, FLUXX;
  • You liaise with programme staff to ensure effective contract administration, financial reporting and payments realted to grants;
  • You ensure grant payments are up to date and follow-up on any outstanding payments or invoices;
  • You provide reporting and financial documents to our grantees;
  • You handle requests from staff related to financial grant procedures and grant management system
  • You participate in audit preparation and implementation of audit recommendations linked to grant management;
  • You take care of other finance activities such as bookkeeping and reconciliation.

Experience & competencies

  • You hold a degree in accounting and have 2-4 years of professional experience in a financial department, preferably in an international organisation or a private foundation;
  • Your values are in line with those of the organisation and you are understand the importance of ECF’s mission;
  • You have excellent organisational and time management skills;
  • You have impeccable work ethics and you are used to dealing with confidential information;
  • You are a completer/finisher with strong attention to detail;
  • You have good written and verbal communications skills;
  • You enjoy working with new IT systems;
  • You are a proficient user of the MS Office package with outstanding Excel skills;
  • You are fluent in English and have some working knowledge of Dutch;
  • Above all, you are true team player with a positive and friendly personality.

Location & travel: The Hague, The Netherlands.
