The Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that advances energy efficiency as a primary driver of an economically vibrant, energy secure and environmentally sustainable Southeastern United States. SEEA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Alliance to Save Energy, is based in Atlanta, GA, and works in the 11-state region of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia  plus the U.S. Virgin Islands. We partner with policymakers, utilities, governments, industry and non-governmental organizations to create more energy efficient futures for the communities we serve. SEEA is the independent champion driving market transformation in the Southeast’s energy efficiency sector through collaborative public policy, thought leadership, and programs, services and technical advisory activities.

In April of 2010, SEEA was awarded $20M by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Better Buildings Neighborhood Program (BBNP) to develop local energy efficiency programs to provide comprehensive services in community neighborhoods to promote and administer energy efficiency and renewable technologies. Through an RFP process, SEEA awarded DOE funds to 12 sub-recipients to participate in the program: Atlanta, GA, New Orleans, LA , Jacksonville, FL, Charlottesville, VA, Huntsville, AL, U.S. Virgin Islands, Chapel Hill/Carrboro, NC, Charleston, SC, Decatur, GA, Charlotte, NC, Nashville, TN, Hampton Roads Metro Planning  District, VA.
