Title: Finance Assistant
Supervisor: Vice President of Operations
Location: The Plains, VA

Introduction:

American Bird Conservancy (ABC), an international bird conservation organization, is seeking a Finance Assistant for their offices in The Plains, VA.  The Finance Assistant is responsible for working on an array of financial functions including:  payroll allocations, timesheet management, preparing monthly financial reports, reconciling credit card statements, maintaining the Grants and Finance Calendar, helping in the preparation of cash flow projections, and other duties as assigned.

 

This position requires a broad knowledge of ABC programs and structure.  Work requires initiative, flexibility, accuracy, and attention to detail.  The Finance Assistant reports to the Vice President of Operations.

Primary Duties:

    1. Work with the Vice President of Operations to prepare monthly financial reports for the Board of Directors and Management Committee.

 

    1. Coordinate monthly management of timesheets of ABC staff and allocate staff time to appropriate budget centers.

 

    1. Reconcile monthly credit card statements with ABC staff, ensuring proper allowability of charges and that receipts are turned in.

 

    1. Reconcile bank statements.

 

    1. Work with the Program Assistant to maintain the Grants and Finance Calendar.

 

    1. Other duties as assigned.

 

Position Requirements:

    1. Associate’s degree in finance, accounting, business or related field and at least two years work experience in accounting or finance or other appropriate combination of education and experience.

 

    1. Experience with accounting software preferred.  Proficiency with office computers and Excel a must.

 

    1. Ability to work on deadline.

 

    1. Good organizational and administrative skills.
