We are looking for a lawyer to join our team of public international lawyers working to empower vulnerable countries, communities and campaigners to negotiate for fairer international environmental law. The postholder will contribute to FIELD research, advocacy and legal work on and develop and manage new work. There will be a particular focus on Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs); other areas may include: biodiversity, Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) and other climate change related topics. The postholder will work in close collaboration with colleagues at IIED, of which FIELD is an independent subsidiary, and partners around the world. Strongly committed to working for change, the successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree in law and experience of MEAs at the international level through participation in international negotiations or experience of analysing texts, developing proposals or drafting negotiating positions. Excellent analytical and research skills, a capacity to communicate effectively with different audiences, and an ability to negotiate and influence others will be essential. Experience of working in complex multicultural teams and partnerships is also required. Fundraising and project management experience will be an asset, as will admission to practice.
