Description |
Field Research EnumeratorsThe Center for International Forestry Research advances human wellbeing, environmental conservation and equity by conducting research to inform policies and practices that affect forests in developing countries. We are one of 15 centres within the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). Our headquarters are in Bogor, Indonesia, and we have offices in Asia, Africa and South America. CIFOR is looking for Field Research Enumerators The Global Comparative Study on REDD (GCS-REDD) is a four-year global comparative research project on first-generation REDD demonstration and readiness activities in selected countries across Latin America, Africa, and Asia. The goal is to provide REDD policy-makers and practitioner communities with the information, analysis and tools they need to ensure effective and cost-efficient reduction of carbon emissions with equitable impacts and co-benefits – the ‘3E’ criteria. The project consists of four components: (1) national initiatives (policy processes and strategies), (2) project activities, (3) monitoring and reference levels, and (4) knowledge sharing. Component 2 will conduct research in several REDD project sites in six countries, including at this stage Peru, Brazil, Cameroon, Tanzania, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Knowledge generated from this component will assist first-generation REDD practitioners to improve their performance in attaining 3E outcomes, provide guidance to design second- generation (post-2012) REDD activities and will serve as one reference point for evaluating the success of national REDD policies and practices (Component 1). Enumerators will be required to collect data before and after implementation of study interventions to see changes in carbon stocks, human welfare and other relevant outcomes. Where feasible, the research will include comparisons between REDD project sites and comparable sites that are not part of the REDD initiative (‘control sites’). This research will include not just impact evaluation on the outcomes of REDD but also process evaluation on how REDD is implemented. The main product of Component 2 in the first study year will be a practitioners’ manual on how to learn from REDD. The manual will be a valuable tool to help practitioners measure progress towards effective, efficient and equitable outcomes and make course corrections during REDD implementation.
