Description

This project is looking for two field assistants for a study of the behaviour, ecology, endocrinology, and conservation of wild gelada monkeys (Theropithecus gelada) at a remote, semi-permanent field site. Field research assistants will participate in data collection during an intensive 13 month long field season as part of this long-term study. Assistant duties will include (but are not limited to) carrying out behavioural observations, faecal sample collection, and vegetation monitoring. Work will begin in mid-May 2013 and last until the end of June 2014. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.

Research assistants will be provided with basic accommodation, food and other basic supplies while at the field site. The semi-permanent camp is remote but comfortable, with large walk-in tents, beds, solar electricity to power lights and a laptop computer, mobile telephone service for receiving calls from abroad and making local calls, satellite telephone for emergencies, and email by satellite modem twice a week.

This project is posted on the Volunteer for Africa Facebook page but is listed on the main site.
