Description
Stationed at Signal School in Simon’s Town, the successful candidate will provide a support service to the Marine Department. Key areas of responsibility will include participating in regular foot, vehicle and boat patrols in the Park; assisting with and supervising the monitoring and recording of resource management data; implementing the conservation policy; visitor and tourism management; assisting in the maintenance of tools, equipment, vehicles and infrastructure; and assisting with emergencies within the Marine Protected Area.

Candidates must have Grade 10 or at least 3 years’ practical experience in this field as well as a passion for the marine environment. A working knowledge of both the Marine Living Resources Act and the Protected Areas Act would be an advantage, as would boat handling and seamanship experience. Candidates must have good communication skills in English and Afrikaans and will need to have their own accommodation and transport.
