Chester Zoo, in collaboration with field partners, supports and delivers a diverse range of over 50 field projects worldwide. This exciting new role will take responsibility for developing, improving and managing systems for data management and reporting from field projects, facilitating evidenced-based approaches to improve conservation impact.  

As a Field Programme Reporting & Assurance Officer, you will: 

  • Provide organisational support to deliver the Conservation Masterplan through the design, development, implementation and management of clear, accurate and reliable data management systems for field projects
  • Work with stakeholder audiences to understand reporting needs and facilitate the effective dissemination of field project data to internal and external audiences through the design, development and management of effective reporting systems, project trackers and dashboards; utilising and promoting technology solutions as required
  • Provide a leading role in the continual review and revision of project management standards and processes, as well as providing an assurance, audit and support role.

The Package

  • This is a permanent position working as part of the Field Programme Team, but collaborating with Teams across the zoo.
  • 40 hours per week, generally Mon-Fri, 8-5 but with scope for flexibility
  • Options for office and home hybrid working

Our Requirements – Field Programme Reporting & Assurance Officer

  • Degree level education and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of the conservation role of zoos
  • Experience in creating dashboards and reports to support data management (Power BI experience preferable)
  • Strong collaborative skills, capable of building and developing relationships at all levels
  • Experience and knowledge of project management systems for conservation
  • Experience in utilising data to inform conservation evidence and measure conservation impact
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft packages and other desktop software
  • Strong project management, organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to focus on detail and accuracy is essential.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and evaluative skills

Although not essential, the following would be desirable:

  • Experience of performance management theory and practise in the third sector, ideally in conservation
  • Knowledge of data science tools (R, Python etc.) and GIS (Q, Arc etc.) desirable
  • Knowledge of biodiversity conservation and good understanding of conservation theory
