FIELD OFFICER – Lusaka, Mumbwa and/or Kabwe Shared Value Africa is seeking applications for two temporary Field Officers to work on their innovative Trees on Farms: Nthaka Yamoyo project in Lusaka, Mumbwa and/or Kabwe. Trees on Farms: Nthaka Yamoyo actively engages small-scale farmers throughout rural Zambia to promote a conservation-agriculture model of higher organic matter retention, early field preparation and inter-cropping leguminous trees in an agro forestry system, including the slow growing species Faidherbia albida and fast growing Gliricidia sepium. Compared to traditional agricultural practices, this approach decreases erosion, improves soil structure and increases levels of soil organic matter resulting in higher yield and improved levels of food security. NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS: Language: Must be able to read and write in English and Nyanja, and have high-level communication skills. Education: Diploma or degree preferred ideally in Agriculture, Forestry or Environmental Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, or similar equivalent. License: Must have motorbike license. Must have good knowledge of rural areas of Lusaka, Mumbwa and/or Kabwe region. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Reside in Mumbwa or Kabwe. Experience with field work – farmer training and household interviews. Experience working with rural communities. Knowledge of agriculture and conservation agriculture and/or or agro-forestry. An excellent communicator with lots of enthusiasm, plus self-reliant, and self-motivated. RESPONSIBILITIES: Training and survey work. Experience with field interviews and of working with rural communities. DURATION: Field Officer will be employed August - October, with opportunity for future work based on performance.
