About Trout Unlimited

Today, Trout Unlimited is a national organization with more than 155,000 volunteers organized into about 400 chapters nationwide. This dedicated grassroots army is matched by a respected staff of organizers, lawyers, policy experts and scientists, who work out of more than 30 offices. Our mission is to conserve, protect and restore North America's cold-water fisheries and their watersheds.

Position Summary

Trout Unlimited (TU) is seeking a qualified individual to serve as its Field Crew Leader from May to October 2015 for the Eastern Abandoned Mine Program and Pennsylvania Eastern Brook Trout Habitat Initiative. This is a seasonal position from May 2015 - October 2015. The typical work week is 40 hours per week with overtime possible. The Eastern Abandoned Mine Program is focused on the conservation, protection, and restoration of coldwater fisheries and their watersheds that have been impacted by historic coal mining throughout the Appalachian region. A main focus of this program is the West Branch Susquehanna Restoration Initiative, which is a comprehensive and collaborative effort aimed at the restoration of coldwater streams and the ultimate recovery of the West Branch Susquehanna River. The Pennsylvania Eastern Brook Trout Habitat Initiative was launched in early 2013 and is focused on reconnecting and restoring Eastern brook trout habitat in priority Pennsylvania watersheds. The Field Crew Leader position is based out of TU's field office in Lock Haven, PA, and will report directly to the Field and Research Manager for daily work tasks, but will coordinate and work on projects as a team member with all staff. Since this is a seasonal position, no benefits are attached in this role.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • A valid driver's license and vehicle.
