Proforest is seeking a motivated, organised, and experienced Field Coordinator to manage the delivery of project activities related to responsible palm oil production involving independent smallholders in a pilot site in Johor. Proforest Malaysia will be working on this project with a major consumer goods company, with support from the SHARP partnership[1] and technical partners in Malaysia to develop a model for the company to engage with its smallholder supply base on responsible production. This model will include engaging with the collection centers, traders and smallholder farmers and includes a ‘train the trader’ concept. The consumer goods company has selected a pilot site with around 1,000  independent smallholder farmers, to test the model.   The outcomes and lessons from this 12-month pilot project will inform the refinement of this model for further replication with the rest of the independent smallholder farmers across the entire supply base of the consumer goods company.

On behalf of Proforest Malaysia, the Field Coordinator will be responsible for the detailed planning, scheduling and implementing the activities in close collaboration with key oil palm fresh fruit bunch (FFB) traders, sub-dealers and other local stakeholders in the selected palm oil supply base. The Field Coordinator is also expected to contribute directly on training and capacity building; raising awareness; providing technical support to dealers and the smallholder groups from whom they are sourcing FFB; and establishing good working relationships with all these stakeholders.

The candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant working experience within the palm oil sector, as well as understand the issues related to its production and smallholder producers. The candidate is required to have strong leadership and project management skills. He/She should be proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
