Field Conservation Volunteer

Location: Washington, D.C. 
Supervisor: Chief Scientist 

Position Description

The Field Conservation Program seeks a volunteer to help with various research projects relating to carnivore conservation. In addition to working on these core projects, the volunteer will be exposed to a variety of programmatic experience on other conservation issues of national significance.

Time Required: 20-25 hours/week if part-time; 20-40 hours/week preferable

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Compile, organize, review and summarize research
• Assist with incorporating research findings into various policy documents
• Assist with drafting related documents, including website text, newsletters, alerts, factsheets, blogs, etc.

Qualifications

• Education: Some college coursework; current student preferred
• Experience: Some general administrative and/or conservation experience preferred
• Other:
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a team member with initiative, motivation, flexibility, and attention to accuracy of projects and tasks
  • Ability to summarize, organize and distribute
  • literature and technical documents in ways that are widely accessible to staff on short notice
  • Strong interest and commitment to biodiversity conservation
