Animals can’t speak for themselves. We are looking for someone who can
speak for them: an outgoing, verbally persuasive person who can serve as a
Campaign Coordinator to stay abreast of animal-related issues and problems,
develop strategies to help animals by recruiting the participation of many
people from many different communities, age ranges, genders and traditions.

The employer is the Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations -
an umbrella body representing animal interest groups from across the
country, whose focus ranges across many issues such as conditions in zoos,
in dairies; conditions of street animals, working animals, wildlife, ocean
animals and fish; poaching, abandonment, cruelty-prevention, laws,
legislation, compassion education and animal rights.

The Campaign Coordinator will be responsible to learn some of the key
issues and hardships faced by animals, and help develop strategies for
helping them, using laws, legislation, media, and most importantly, public
opinion. We are searching for a coordinator whose job is to strengthen the
work of others in their ability to help animals immediately, and
permanently.

The successful applicant must have some basic abilities to write a simple
press release. He or she must be fluent in both Hindi and English, and
comfortable with making multiple phone calls and using email at many
intervals throughout an average day.

Good written and verbal communication skills are also essential.

 Here’s who we’re looking for:
 • You are a “people person”, and can motivate, work with and support
activists all over India.
 • You are calm, and able to take adversity with resilience and have a
positive, optimistic outlook.
 • You are self driven and enjoy the challenge of solving unforeseen
problems.
 • You like to work in a team but you are also able to manage your time
effectively even when working independently.
 • You have a minimum of 5 years work experience after finishing education.

If you were working for us, here are some of the things you would have
done last week:
 • Set up meetings with government officers to discuss legislation
 • Prepared a note to submit to authorities to amend regulation
 • Spoken to activists in a city in India encouraging them to support events
 • Sent a mailing to existing stakeholders to ask for participation and
inform of news and updates
 • Traveled to a city to support an event for your campaign
 • Set up a training event for volunteers and activists
 • Prepared content for the FIAPO website
 • Prepared content and designed leaflets to spread awareness on the abuse
of animals
 • Undertaken a press release on animal issues

Here are some other things you might do:
 • Participate in team meetings and provide inputs to other colleagues on
their respective campaigns.
 • Anchor a response centre case
 • Write a FIAPO newsletter article on progress of the campaign

 Experience is important.

You must have the ability to travel frequently and you must have no
constraints on you with regard to traveling alone.

Your geographic base need not be urban but it is preferred.

You must be completely familiar with how to research on the web.

Please familiarize yourself FIAPO by reading through the web pages of
www.fiapo.org before you apply.

Based on the job description and the website, within 300 words, please
provide a cover letter in addition to your resume, telling us why you would
be a suitable candidate for an interview.

You will join a very energetic team of 6 plus people, so if this is an
opportunity that you were looking for to be able to professionally work for
animal protection  - then send in your resume to varda(at)fiapo(dot).org-
