Description

Looking for a new start? Come and work at Harrogate Borough Council.  Our values guide everything we do, and everything we do has an impact on the people who live here

Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is looking for a talented and committed individual to take on the role of Farming in Protected Landscapes Officer to deliver a major new land management grant programme.

Created by Defra, and managed by AONB and National Park teams, the Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme will help farmers, land managers and others to deliver work on the farmed landscape under the themes of climate, nature, people and place.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference to farming and land management across Nidderdale AONB. You should be able to work independently to develop close working relations with farmers. Experienced in agri-environment advice and delivery, you should have an in-depth understanding of upland farming and land management, preferably within a protected landscape. Experience of working with farmer groups and delivery of access and engagement projects would be an advantage.

You will be the first point of contact for the programme; help to develop project ideas with farmers and land managers and support applicants, monitor budgets, assess applications and provide recommendations within the terms and conditions of the grant.

You will be based at Nidderdale AONB’s office in Pateley Bridge where you will be part of a team who work on natural and cultural heritage projects with a wide range of partners. A full driving license and access to a car is essential. The post is eligible for job share or for secondments.

For further information please contact Iain Mann, Nidderdale AONB Manager, via email at iain.mann@harrogate.gov.uk

Closing date for Applications:  27 June 2021
Interviews to be held on:  5 July 2021
