CEH has recently been awarded a major contract to provide a scientifically-rigorous approach to the monitoring and evaluation of the Welsh countryside and specific agri-environment measures.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed liaison officer to work on this major project, monitoring the state of the natural and historic environment inWalesand assessing the impact on people and society. Initial appointment will be from February 2013 to September 2013. The project runs for four years so it is anticipated that this seasonal contract would be renewed on an annual basis.

The primary roles of this post will be to:

1. Liaise with landowners throughoutWalesto secure access to their land for staff undertaking field surveys.

2. Coordinate the movements of the field survey teams in relation to access permissions

3. Working with the project management team to track progress and ensure delivery of the field survey on time.

The post will be based within the Monitoring and Evaluation Programme team at CEH Bangor. The focus of the role will be to provide administrative support to the project management team to ensure timely delivery of the field survey component of the Programme. This includes communicating with land owners acrossWalesand day to day communication with field teams. Much of the initial correspondence with land owners is likely to be ‘cold calling’ by mail and over the telephone.

Main Duties:

• Identify land owners inWalesin relation to predetermined areas of the countryside.

• Liaise with those land owners to secure agreement to access to their land for subsequent field surveyors to visit

• Coordinate the day to day movements of three field teams in relation to access agreements

• Administrate a database of landowner contact details and access permissions

Skills Required:

•You must have excellent written and spoken Welsh and be able to demonstrate a high level of communication skills.

•You must have excellent organizational and logistical skills and be able to work effectively on your own and within a team.

•You must have experience of the Microsoft suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

•Administration experience in a team and project environment is essential.

•Experience of farming/land management practices would be advantageous.
