Scope:

The Facilities Manager post has been created to run the new £6m education centre at CAT known as WISE (Wales Institute for Sustainable Education). The Facilities Manager will be responsible for the smooth running of WISE, ensuring the highest possible standard of service for both internal and external clients. In the initial stages of the role, the Facilities Manager will need to work closely with other departments at CAT to develop management and operational systems for the building, and to integrate CAT’s existing and new activities successfully into WISE.

Opening in June 2010, WISE will be a state-of-the-art environmental education centre, drawing on CAT's 30 years' experience to inform a wide range of participants and clients in the principles of sustainable development. Activities operating in WISE will include our MSc programmes, Public Courses programme, venue hire for conferences, meetings and events, and activities provided by the Education Department.

WISE is a cutting edge combination of sustainable building techniques and environmentally conscious design. Built using low embodied energy materials such as hemp and lime, rammed earth and FSC certified timber, the building will be powered using on-site renewable energy sources, including biomass and solar power.
