Description

Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels - Developing Community Action (SSRS-DCA) is a project to secure the long-term future of red squirrels in Scotland by building capacity among communities of volunteers and land managers, empowering them to take ownership of some of the essential protection measures required to save the nation’s iconic species.

We are currently looking for a Data Officer to act as system administrator for the Project’s innovative online community hub and data management system. Allowing users to record survey data, sightings and interact with the SSRS community, the system holds data from a range of sources.  You will liaise with the product consultant with regard to fixes and developments.  You will train and support project staff in using the community hub and other internal systems.

The post holder will coordinate the reporting of the SSRS DCA project, collating different data strands including the community hub; providing summary and detailed reports, dashboards and feedback for funders.  Being proficient in GIS, you will maintain the project’s spatial data and provide maps for surveys.

The successful candidate will possess a relevant degree (or equivalent) in ecology, biology, geography, countryside management or a related discipline along with experience in a similar research and data analysis position. Highly organised and methodical you will have experience in the collation, handling and manipulation of large and varied databases and you will be an experienced user of Excel and Access. Experience of cloud-based file storage systems and working knowledge of ArcGIS v8 or above is also essential.
