General responsibilities

 

The expert will participate in fundraising; manage and support the implementation of projects related to sustainable development; and support activities carried out by the REC Office Kosovo (as defined by UNSCR 1244) in the field of environment in a timely and cost-efficient manner. The position has a specific focus on the REC’s Local Initiatives Topic Area and the expert may be required to manage multiple assignments and may have to supervise project staff within the project framework.

The expert will also support other in-house projects and be responsible for developing new projects and their respective budgets and for proposing project teams. He/she may also be required to handle relations with clients, donors, beneficiaries and external partners.

Experience required

 
  • Knowledge of environmental issues is essential.
  • Experience in fundraising.
  • A minimum of four years’ experience in project management, project implementation (including narrative and financial reporting) and project fundraising in the fields of local planning for sustainability, environmental policy, water management, biodiversity, civil society support, capacity building and education.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in international community projects in South Eastern Europe. Specific experience of capacity-building projects is an asset.
  • Experience of working in a multicultural environment.
  • Well-developed management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in local official languages (Albanian and Serbian).
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English.
  • Strong office management and administration skills, including computer literacy.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Ability to work with flexibility and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to travel frequently in Kosovo (as defined by UNSCR 1244) and abroad.
  • Familiarity with the REC and its procedures and availability to start employment at an early date are strong assets.

Education required

 
  • University degree (higher university degree or equivalent is an asset) in a relevant area of expertise, preferably natural or environmental sciences, environmental management, economics or socio-political science.

This full-time position is based at the REC office in Pristina.
