General responsibilities

 

The expert will actively participate in fundraising and will manage and support the implementation of REC projects in her/his specific area of expertise. The position has a specific focus on the REC’s Local Governance Topic Area with an emphasis on the programme “Supporting Sustainability and Environmental Action Planning in Communities in Belarus and Moldova”.

The expert will also support other in-house projects and will be responsible for developing new projects and budgets and for proposing project teams. He/she may also be required to handle relations with clients, donors, beneficiaries and external partners.

Experience required

 
  • A minimum of  four years’ experience in project management and project implementation in relation to local and sustainable development, Agenda 21 and/or local environmental action planning (LEAPS).
  • Knowledge of the environmental situation and practices in Eastern Europe.
  • Knowledge of local and sustainable development.
  • Experience of working with governmental and non-governmental organisations.
  • Strong office management and administrative skills, including computer literacy.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Fluent written and spoken Belarusian and/or Russian is an asset.
  • Ability to work with flexibility and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Ability to travel frequently.

Education required

 
  • A minimum of a university degree in a relevant environment-related field (higher university degree or equivalent is an asset).

This full-time position is based at the Variable: REC Head Office in Szentendre, Hungary and REC Project Office in Minsk, Belarus.
