General responsibilities

 

The expert will actively participate in fundraising and will manage and support the implementation of REC projects in her/his specific area of expertise. The position has a specific focus on the REC’s Environmental Management Topic Area in the field of environmental assessments, with an emphasis on the programme “Setting up the Environmental Management Center (EMC) in Serbia”. The expert will contribute to strengthening capacities for resource efficiency improvements, emissions reductions, as well as sustainability assessments and reporting by industries, public utilities, small and medium-sized enterprises and relevant national and local institutions in Serbia and beyond.

The expert will also support other in-house projects and will be responsible for developing new projects and budgets and for proposing project teams. He/she may also be required to handle relations with clients, donors, beneficiaries and external partners.

Experience required

 
  • A minimum of four years’ experience in project management and project implementation in relation to environmental assessment.
  • Knowledge of the environmental situation and practices in the South Eastern European region.
  • Knowledge of environmental management and industry.
  • Fundraising experience.
  • Experience of working with governmental organisations and industry.
  • Strong office management and administrative skills, including computer literacy.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Fluent written and spoken Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian is a strong asset.
  • Ability to work with flexibility and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Ability to travel frequently.

Education required

 
  • A minimum of a university degree in a relevant technical field (higher university degree or equivalent is an asset), preferably in environmental engineering, chemical technology or other relevant technical field.

This full-time position is based at the Variable: REC Head Office in Szentendre, Hungary and REC Serbia in Belgrade.
