To support our growth we seek an Expert Consultant to work in our Climate Change and Sustainability Division on an on-call basis. The Consultant will lead the development of innovative, accurate, timely, and high quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff.  This position will be located full-time at a federal client site in Indianapolis, IN.
Qualifications
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing utility data collection, analysis, and entry
  • Analyzing facility energy consumption and utility information and determining measures to increase energy efficiency and reduce costs as a senior utility analyst
  • Coordinating lower-level staff in day-to-day management of utility invoices and energy databases
  • Managing large energy databases
  • Developing commodities (e.g., electricity, fuel, water) forecasts for a large federal entity
  • Solving quantitative and qualitative problems
  • Interacting with federal and commercial clients
  • Keeping informed of government agency regulations and requirements
  • Tracking project progress and reporting to the client
  • Preparing and executing project and operational budgets for clients
  • Activities will include close coordination with ICF staff in Washington, DC, and occasional travel between Indianapolis, IN and Washington, DC
Basic Qualifications: 
  • 10+ years of experience with energy issues including basic building (HVAC) operations and power systems
  • Commodities management and forecasting experience
  • Familiarity with electric, gas, and water utility operations and rate structures
  • Extensive experience projecting energy usage, future costs of electricity, natural gas, water, and fuel oil enabling clients to budget accordingly
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Certified Energy Manager, preferred
  • Demonstrated quantitative and/or modeling skills
  • Interest and experience in environmental issues, climate change, and energy management
  • Work history with an electric utility
Professional Skills:
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities
  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
  • Ability to apply detailed knowledge of organizational procedures to make independent decisions and serve as a credible resource for a senior management team
  • Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors at the client’s site
  • Excellent problem solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, and recommend solutions
  • Superior interpersonal skills including courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude
  • Effective presentations to senior management
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detail oriented ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • The ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
