Description

MRAG is a well established consultancy dedicated to sustainable management of natural resources. We specialise in fisheries management but also have significant experience of wider aquatic resources management.

MRAG is seeking a suitably qualified and highly motivated person to join our consultancy to work on marine and freshwater fisheries and resource management projects. Demonstrating a keen interest in fisheries / aquatic conservation and resource management, you will have a relevant post graduate qualification and at least five years experience. Ideally you will have already worked in a consultancy environment. Your primary role will be implementing projects within MRAG’s portfolio. However, it is anticipated that you will be familiar with the full project cycle from tendering to project implementation, and that you will be able to fully participate on projects at any stage of their development from tendering to implementation. Enthusiasm and the ability to apply yourself flexibly to a variety of tasks within a team is required, and excellence in writing English is essential as much of your work will involve the production of reports for clients and at times in contributing to preparing tenders. Ability to communicate in other languages will be an advantage. You will be a well organised person able to work to deadlines.

Typical skills we are looking for include

  1. Wide experience on a range of projects relating to fisheries and aquatic resource management.
  2. Excellent written, presentation and analytic skills producing high quality outputs.
  3. Excellent communication skills both with colleagues (upwards and downwards) and the ability to liaise with clients and partners on projects.
  4. Ability to multitask, working on a number of projects often to tight deadlines.
  5. Ability to work effectively as part of a team including experience of managing small project teams.
  6. The ability to participate at any stage in the project cycle including some understanding of contractual and budgeting requirements, working autonomously where needed but with senior management oversight. This suggests you may have some prior experience of new business development.
  7. Knowledge of other languages and experience of working overseas (please list) will be an advantage.

The position will be full time in MRAG’s offices in central London but opportunities for overseas travel exist depending on project requirements. You must be legally entitled to work in the UK. The remuneration package will be dependent on the level of your experience and qualifications.
