Description

GE Consulting are looking for a number of Assistant Ecologists to join our teams in Exeter and Bristol for the 2022 season. These will be seasonal contracts (April to October) with the possibility for an extension if workloads require it and a very real chance of the role becoming permanent.

GE is a mid-sized, privately owned consultancy with an excellent reputation. With our head office in Exeter and a new office in Bristol we work for a wide variety of clients across the south of England and into Wales. We are big enough to work on interesting major projects (1000+ unit residential schemes, 1000-acre renewables sites, national utilities contract) yet small enough to feel like you’re part of a close-knit team and not a small cog in a huge international organization. We are a company that puts its staff first, creating a fun non-corporate atmosphere where a love of wildlife is shared across a team of like-minded people.

This is an opportunity for up-and-coming ecologists to learn a lot of new skills across the consultancy and get paid a fair salary whilst doing so.

The individuals we are seeking will either be working in the ecological consultancy sector or have the qualifications ready to start such a career. We are seeking bright and enthusiastic individuals who are happy to roll up their sleeves and join in with any task that is presented to them. The role will mostly be focused on field surveys with a heavy emphasis on bat surveys (so lots of weekday evenings out surveying) but tasks may also include working with our Land Management team, data analysis or helping prepare reports and mapping (all dependant on your skillset).

Essential skills and experience

  • A relevant degree to move into the role of a Consultant Ecologist
  • Committed and reliable with strong time management
  • High attention to detail
  • Able to work alone or be a team player
  • Happy to work evenings and unsociable hours
  • Full driving license & car

Desirable skills and experience

  • A member of CIEEM
  • QGIS mapping skills
  • Experience of conducting ecology surveys
  • A protected species survey licence

GE Consulting are an equal opportunity employer that recognises the value of a diverse workforce. Full equality & diversity policy available on request.

Applicants to send a CV and covering letter to jobs@ge-consulting.co.uk
