Summary: Shallow Waters is a marine conservation NGO working toward a community-led coral reef management programme in the Koh Sdach archipelago, Cambodia.  As part of our commitment in the region, Shallow Waters is seeking an Expedition Leader (EL) to manage their volunteer marine research, conservation and diving activities.

Roles & Responsibilities: The Expedition Leader’s primary role is to provide overall management to staff and volunteers on site in Cambodia, leading the smooth and safe day-to-day running of the expedition, conservation and research activities including the training of personnel and volunteers in scuba diving, research methodologies, participation in community activities, management of local staff and effective communication with the UK office via timely and detailed reports.

Minimum Requirements: The successful candidate will be qualified to a minimum of PADI Divemaster level and have a keen interest in marine biology and conservation. Ideally, S/he is educated in marine biology, ecology, zoology or a relevant discipline.

Personal Specification: The right candidate must be in good physical fitness and be experienced in working in remote areas. The EL is independent and will be expected to work long hours within a small team environment both living and working together, and will be able to liaise with customers and volunteers in a friendly, effective and diplomatic manner. Personal qualities relevant to this role include good communication skills, leadership, interpersonal skills, initiative, resilience, creativity and the ability to anticipate problems and find appropriate solutions.
