The Non--Timber Forest Products –Exchange Programme for South and Southeast Asia (NTFP--EP) is a collaborative, regional network of grassroots NGOs and peoples’ organizations that seeks to build the capacity of forest--based communities in the sustainable management of forests, especially in th conservation and trade of non--timber forest products. NTFP--EP implements programs in 6 Asian countries and maintains headquarters in Manila, Philippines. For more information please check our website www.ntfp.org.
The NTFP-- EP invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of: Executive Director
The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for directing and leading the organization to accomplish its dual goals of conservation and enhanced livelihoods through strategic programs and timely, targeted networking activities. The ED will profile the organization in various regional and international endeavors in its engagement with ASEAN, and other regional and global bodies. The ED will also undertake key regional fundraising initiatives and promotional and advocacy efforts. The ED will also lead in providing direction, synergy and complementarity to program activities and lead in overall regional program management covering programs in at least 6 countries in ASIA. The ED reports to a diverse set of board members across several countries and carrying several disciplines.
Qualifications
1) Educational background: anthropology, forestry, ecology, social sciences, business management, economics or other related fields 2) At least 10 years experience in development work, direct experience in forestry and community development preferred 3) At least 5 years experience in organizational management – (including personnel management, reading financial statements, report writing); at least 5 years experience in program management 4) Strong personnel management, communication, networking and fundraising skills 5) Good technical writing and presentation skills 6) Experience in or exposure to regional work an advantage 7) Has personal affinity with and strong commitment to the advancement of the position and well being of forest--based communities.
Remuneration: The monthly remuneration of the position is at par with other organizations and with opportunity to travel.
