The Food Ethics Council strives for fairer, greener food system by sparking debate and providing independent advice.
We seek an Executive Director to fill a role that is both demanding and exhilarating, with great opportunities to build on the achievements, reputation and activities of this small but influential and effective organisation.
You will have a wide range of knowledge, skills and abilities, including multi-tasking, team leading, fund-raising and project development and execution. You will be comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people with different interests and approaches, be able to display vision, knowledge and understanding of the ethical issues facing food and farming and be an effective communicator. You will need to be a self-starter as this is a hands-on role in which you will conduct policy research and analysis yourself, as well as promote our work to others and manage a small team.
The role includes commitments to contribute to and deliver our existing projects, and the responsibility to develop and fundraise for new initiatives. You will have support from your staff colleagues and volunteers, the Board and our Council members.
Location: Office currently in Brighton.
Hours: Full time.
Salary: c. £45,000.
We will consider flexible working practices.
