Comverge, Inc., a leading provider of clean energy solutions that enable electric utilities to manage capacity during periods of peak energy demand, delivered more than 1,250 megawatts (MW) of reduced electricity demand to commercial + industrial (C+I) and residential customers along the Eastern seaboard during the summer of 2011. These efforts were made necessary by a record breaking heat wave that, at its peak, put approximately 132 million people under a heat alert, and threatened grid reliability in 15 eastern states. Role Summary/Purpose: To plan and carry out direct actions to initiate, monitor, control and report results of a demand response events. Maintain rapport with program managers regarding all events during and after events.  

Essential Responsibilities: 
In this role you will initiate, monitor, and support demand response events while ensuring successful running and completion of the demand response events. Key responsibilities include maintaining a firm understanding of the software and applications relevant to the various systems and programs. Additionally, you will troubleshoot any problems with the software, application or servers regarding the programs. This includes communicating system problems to the administrators in a timely manner, generating daily reports to illustrate and depict overall system reliability and event forecasts. Additionally, you will maintain and develop existing standard operating procedures (SOP) on the various demand response programs. Part of the role involves monitoring and reporting on event activities and providing relevant management information. Another function includes attending meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organizational development. The successful incumbent will have the opportunity to attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills. 
 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or other relevant technical field.
  • 1-2 years technical support experience in a NOC environment supporting customers.  Familiar with using standard network monitoring tools.
  • 1-2 years experience maintaining Windows workstations in workgroup/domain environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the concepts of electrical energy.
  • Experience using remote desktop applications. 
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Desire to think and work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
