Description

Our international corporate leadership initiative EV100 brings together over 100 international companies committed to drive the transition to electric vehicles. They set the example by pledging to switch to EVs in their own operations by 2030 and come together as a public voice to advocate for ambitious EV policy setting and market acceleration. 
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced program and policy Manager to drive the continued strategic expansion of the EV100 initiative and all transportation-related policy activities in North America. This includes developing relationships with major companies with largescale fleets and charging deployment capabilities, member engagement and deep relationship building, and leading various federal and state policy advocacy activities to promote sound and ambitious policies to advance the EV industry. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally, managing relationships internally and externally across the NGO community, government, and private sector. They will also be responsible for working collaboratively with internal teams such as the Communications team to 
share EV100 updates and announcements. 

To be successful in this role you should be a strong leader, valued team player, and have the ability to make decisions quickly and execute effectively to drive EV100’s strategic growth forward. This is a 2-year contract position with the opportunity for extension based on new funding. 

This role will be based in the Climate Group’s New York City office.

About the role

The Climate Group’s EV100 initiative brings together a growing group of over a hundred international companies committing to make the switch to electric vehicles across their operations by 2030. Through their leadership, they not only reduce a significant part of their own carbon emissions and set an example for other peers in the business community. Their commitments also send a crucial demand signal to auto manufacturers and policy makers to accelerate the global market transition to clean transport. 

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced program and policy Manager to drive the continued strategic expansion of the EV100 initiative and all policy activities in North America. 

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Corporate Recruitment and Engagement 
    • ?Manage and execute the EV100 recruitment strategy, aiming to continuously expand the sectoral and geographic footprint across both the United States and Canada.
    • Engage in a robust pipeline of conversations with the world’s leading companies with largescale fleets based in North America to commit them to EV100. 
    • Support the global team in managing the relationships with the existing and growing body of members in North America by being their regional EV expert and EV100 point of contact. 
    • Support the development of global and domestic EV100’s member offerings, such as our regional networking, best practice sharing and knowledge generation, to maximize the value for participating companies as well as the strategic impact of the initiative. 
  • Policy Advocacy: 
    • Lead all federal policy activities for EV100 in North America including engaging with the Biden-Harris Administration, US EPA, US DOT, and more to drive forward EV100 US policy and regulatory priorities.
    • Manage a team of consultants and execute EV100’s state policy activities through July 2022 with the potential for expansion based on funding and EV100’s guidance and review. 
  • Strategy and Growth:
    • Monitor industry, policy, and regulatory landscape to develop new programmatic ideas and projects to help support EV100 member commitments and develop the EV industry (e.g., Formula E). 
    • Contribute to development of core messaging for public-facing materials including media, newsletters, and annual report. 
    • Contribute to the Climate Group’s thought leadership on electro-mobility in the US and identification of strategic development opportunity for the campaign.
  • Collaboration:
    • Regularly attend meetings and engage with NGO partners in the Clean Vehicles Coalition, and lead relationships with regional engagement partners and other organizations such as CALSTART, Forth, and Ceres and internally with the Under2 Coalition/ZEV Community to support EV100 recruitment and advancing collaborative projects/policy as the EV100 representative. 
    • Attend and speak at panels and conferences to promote EV100's growth and discuss EV market trends Also coordinate the participation of EV100 and its members in climate and transport events hosted by the Climate Group, external organizations and at the Climate Group's Climate Week NYC

About you

This is an exciting role for a dynamic individual to lead and manage the continued growth of EV100 in North America.

Essential:

  • Minimum 3+ years of equivalent or direct experience in transportation/EV industry, corporate sustainability, partnership development, recruitment and/or engaging major international companies across a membership group. 
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in US policy advocacy with a deep understanding of key-EV related legislative and regulatory mechanisms including relationships with federal and state government leaders. 
  • Ability to work in ambiguity, with a willingness to engage multiple different priorities at the same time across both member engagement, policy, relationship building and communications. 
  • A “get it done” mentality, and ability to develop strategy, manage expectations, build a team, and execute on projects with minimal oversight. 
  • Commitment to the Climate Group’s mission, and particularly passionate about accelerating transportation electrification.
  • Relevant background knowledge on corporate climate leadership and/or clean transport and electromobility agenda.
  • Strategic mind, leader, and ability to drive a portfolio of activities to set priorities.
  • Strong team member and ability to collaborate with multiple colleagues and partners.

Location

This position will be affiliated with our New York office.  Staff is currently hybrid remote, but subject to change at the direction of leadership.

Applicants must already have the right to work in the United States. Regional and international travel may be required as part of the role.

The salary for this position is competitive and dependent on experience. 

In addition to the salary, the role holder will benefit from.

  • 403(b) Retirement Plan, with a salary-based employer contribution (currently 3%) commencing upon completion of the mandatory six-month service requirement;
