Our client, a large electronics company, is looking for a professional to interpret and understand EU and local environment and product safety legislation. You will lead the appropriate participation in the relevant associations around Europe thus influencing revision and future legislation impacting its European business. You will also provide the appropriate support to teams based on the interpretation and understanding of all relevant legislation. Key Responsibilities are: -Firstly to identify legislative developments including impending legislative changes in Environmental and Product Safety legislation in Europe and assist the team and the NSO’s in: - identifying the impact of legislation and assisting other staff to lobby governments and organisations accordingly - liaise with NSO’s and RSO’s to understand the impact of such legislation - advise the parent company and the BU’s about the legislation and its impact - support and advise the NSO’s on the impact and implementation of legislation - support and advise the NSO’s with any appropriate representation and involvement with trade associations and lobbying with NSO government - develop and communicate with others a plan to implement legislation in the organisation - above all work to ensure the company's compliance with any legislation Secondly to work with team members to ensure that any legislation is built into our audit process to ensure ongoing legal compliance, and assist with audits across Europe as required. Thirdly to work with team members to ensure that adequate information and communication is delivered throughout the organisation to ensure legal compliance is implemented and maintained. Fourthly to work at European level to influence, interpret and understand EU and relevant international environmental legislation through interaction and lobbying activities, trade and industry associations or other relevant platforms; to ensure appropriate representation of its interests and involvement at a European level. You will need to be: Degree qualified in environmental science, or law, or relevant subject OR have a professional qualification with relevant experience. Ideally experienced in a pan European operation knowledgeable in legal compliance/legal affairs Ideally able to conduct audits Fluent in English but further languages would be beneficial Experienced in large commercial organisations Experienced in research and analysis and implementation of legislation. Able to project manage the implementation of legislation across European organisation. Good analytically with specific expertise in waste in particular Waste (including WEEE, Packaging, Batteries) and Recycling |
