Climate change is now widely accepted as the largest long-term environmental problem facing humanity and its major cause is carbon dioxide emissions from energy use. A not-for-profit organisation formed in 1992, we've rapidly become a leading figure in the fight to address climate change. Our aim is to promote sustainable energy, while reducing consumption and carbon emissions in the domestic and transport sectors throughout the UK. Join us and you'll change more than just your job.

EST Wales will be delivering our advice service in house and so have a vacancy for a full-time ESTac Advisor. Reporting to the ESTac Operations Manager, the postholder will be responsible for delivering effective frontline advice on energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste, water and transport to guide householders towards a lower carbon lifestyle.

The main responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide advice in accordance with the standards set out in the Operations Manual and other appropriate Quality Operating Procedures;
  • Ensure the advice centre KPI's are met;
  • Raise the profile of EST by identifying and highlighting media and outreach promotion opportunities;
  • Build and maintain customer relationships to assist customers in every way possible.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience working within a customer service environment;
  • Knowledge and understanding of energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste, water, and transport matters for householders;
  • Knowledge of legislation enacted and proposed, relating to the efficient use of energy in the domestic sector (desirable);
  • Familiarity of welsh Geography;
  • Experience organising and delivering small events and presentations;
  • Experience of working with community groups;
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in an Environmental or Energy related subject is desirable;
  • City & Guilds 6176 in Energy Awareness is desirable, but not required.
