Introduction

Our client is looking for a multiskilled Environmental specialist to assist the Senior Environmentalist in implementing systems and ensuring compliance with environmental issues.

The Job

Job Purpose:

Process Environmental Alert Forms and undertake non-statutory and statutory Environmental Impact Assessment under the Highways Act. Manage the HA’s Carbon and Energy reporting requirements. Manage waste and materials issues. Undertake site visits and inspections as required. Manage the environmental team inbox with regard to coordinating HAIL complaints and queries and other requirements. Manage waste and materials issues.

Tasks/Responsibilities as follows:

• Advise EM Highways colleagues on environmental matters
• Liaise with non-statutory and statutory environmental bodies where required.
• Site walkovers and inspections.
• Depot, project and site audits.
• Process EAFs and undertake EIA using EM Highways ISO14001 processes.
• Identify environmental risks and mitigate.
• Identify environmental improvements and push delivery.
• Ensure Legal compliance in environmental terms.
• Manage the team inbox.
• Ensure waste licenses are current and that waste and materials requirements are being met.
• Assist with developing scheme packs for the Value Management process.
• Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with all legal requirements via the processes set out in the Health and Safety Procedures Manual.
• Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.

Typical Skills/Experience as follows:

• Relevant degree or working towards a relevant qualification.
• Membership of relevant professional body.
• Experience in a Highways/Construction environment.
