Environmental Technician

Minimum Associates Degree in Environmental Technology or equivalent, and 2 years of previous experience with the treatment, storage and disposal of hazardous waste Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently of on-site supervision are required, as well as strong organizational, communication and computer skills. Must have current OSHA HazWOPER Training (40 hour) Willingness to live and work in harsh conditions Must possess or be able to obtain a valid drivers license and passport Job Description : APPLICATIONS FOR THIS position ARE BEING ACCEPTED BY URS CORPORATION. OFFERS WILL BE CONTINGENT UPON FINAL AWARD OF CONTRACT. URS will provide hazardous waste service to contingency operations bases, forward operational bases and patrol bases throughout Iraq. All hazardous waste will be treated, stored, and disposed of in-country at 5 main forward operational bases. The objective is to implement reasonable and appropriate management services for the complete destruction of hazardous wastes generated by the DOD in Iraq. Will collect, maintain identification and track hazardous wastes. Will identify the waste type, location of waste generation, processing date, treatment facility, and destruction date. Work will be completed in accordance with EPA waste codes as defined in Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 261(40 CFR Part 261). All records will be maintained in accordance with EPA Best Management Practices (BMP). May be required to provide training to Military personnel and/or local nationals.
