My client, a leading resources company operating in Mozambique, is currently seeking an Environmental Superintendent to provide support to the EHS Manager in the development, maintenance and control of the Environmental Monitoring Function.
There will also be involvement in an imminent expansion/construction project to increase the mine capacity.
The successful applicant will be expected to liaise with outside bodies, government, consultants, community, and the operational team.
Minimum Requirements:
- A degree in Environmental Management or similar.
- Knowledge of systems and the implementation of Integrated Management Systems with the Safety Department, based on ISO principles.
- Significant experience in environmental impact assessment, due diligence, environmental permitting and consents and sustainability appraisal.
- Experience of utilising their technical EIA knowledge in commercial environments.
- Working knowledge and understanding a regulatory environment.
- The ability to communicate at a senior level and to deputise for the EHS Manager, as necessary, on environmental matters
- The ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams to achieve set targets and objectives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Liaison with environmental consultants
- Liaison with project management to ensure compliance with International Finance Corporation(IFC) requirements for a major plant expansion
- The ability to manage EIA projects at all stages of the project cycle
- Coordinating and/or authoring chapters for monthly business reports and statements.
- Providing advice on EIA processes and other environmental regulatory requirements
- Monitoring the construction environmental management plans and on site mitigation, auditing and inspections during construction.
- Advise the project teams of any environmental requirements during the design phase of the expansion
- Training in NORM (Natural Occurring Radioactive Material) and a RPM certificate would be an advantage.
- The ability to speak Portuguese would be an advantage, but not absolutely necessary
- Computer literacy, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project
This position is a Fly in/ Fly out appointment from point of hire, the rotation is six weeks on site and two weeks R and R (Rest and Recuperation) including flight time/travel.
Accommodation and food is provided free of charge at the site camp.
