Environmental Scientist

Ecology and Environment, Inc. is a fully integrated environmental consulting firm committed to supporting sustainable development through responsible environmental stewardship.  We are seeking a junior/associate-level Environmental Scientist or Biologist for our corporate office in Pittsburgh, PA to perform environmental field studies including wetland delineations and habitat assessments, and assist project teams with environmental report preparation.

Our successful candidate must have an understanding of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems in the northeast and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on a variety of challenging environmental projects.

Responsibilities:

• Perform plant, habitat and threatened and endangered species surveys
• Perform field surveys and monitor restoration and construction projects in biologically sensitive areas
• Perform wetland and stream delineation and permitting
• Perform work in accordance with USFWS, COE and state equivalent agency requirements
• Field data analysis and report writing
• Prepare NEPA documents

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biology or related discipline; Master’s Degree preferred
• 3-5 years of related experience; environmental consulting experience preferred
• Knowledge of  environmental regulations such as NEPA and FERC preferred
• Ability to work independently with initiative and follow-through on direction given by members of project team
• Excellent self-leadership, facilitation, and public engagement skills
• Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
• Ability to travel to support business needs
