ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Environmental Protection Project Coordinator provides overall direction for all Nature Conservancy Dominican Republic CAFTA Project (“Environmental Protection Program”) activities related to finance, administration, information systems, and/or safety.   This person will dedicate 100% of his/her time to The Nature Conservancy’s DR CAFTA project.  It is a two-year position based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.  The Project Coordinator is responsible for development and implementation of annual budgets and manages the processes for annual planning, submission of periodic and annual financial and technical reports and monitoring progress of goals. S/he may be responsible for developing operational guidelines to ensure efficient management of the DR CAFTA project and compliance with relevant regulations.  S/he may coordinate trainings/meetings and document activities, strategies and lessons learned as appropriate.  S/he may manage one or more administrative/finance support staff.  The project coordinator will be responsible for monitoring the branding and marking requirements associated with the DR CAFTA Project.  This position works under the supervision of the Environmental Protection Program Director.

The Project coordinator should also:  gather all necessary information and elaboration of agreements, procurement and contracts between TNC, contractors, suppliers and grantees; prepare necessary paper work and securing signatures of approval, distributing documents to appropriate parties; ensure that files and information on all contracts, procurement and agreements is up to date and ordered; ensure effective tracking mechanisms to monitor grants and contracts; other duties as assigned by supervisor, playing an active role in the successful operation of the DR CAFTA Project; work closely with managers and coordinators from the Conservancy and partner organizations to select appropriate administrative mechanisms for program activities (agreement type, payment schedules, etc); and work closely with legal and operations department and grants specialists to ensure that the terms and conditions of agreements are properly documented.  Duties are highly confidential and require broad and comprehensive knowledge of Nature Conservancy policies.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination.
• Experience overseeing multiple central administrative processes, such as facility management, telecommunications, general maintenance/repairs, central services, mailroom operations, central filing, telephone/public reception, printing, maintaining office supplies, and/or general purchasing requests, or equivalent.
• Experience using MS office, Word, and Excel. Experience using advanced computer functions including navigating the Internet.  Experience manipulating, analyzing and/or interpreting financial or other data.
• Supervisory experience (if required).
• Experience developing and administering departmental budget or equivalent. 
• Experience designing, implementing and directing projects.
• Fluent in Spanish and English. Both written and spoken.

• Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years related experience or equivalent combination.
• Successful experience in developing, directing and managing multiple projects and implementing strategic program goals.
• Supervisory experience, including ability to motivate, lead, set objectives, and manage performance, including conflict resolution.
• Demonstrated experience in MS Office, Word, and Excel.  May require database management skills with ability to produce reports.  Ability to use advanced computer functions including navigating the Internet.  Ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data.

• Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to organize time and manage diverse activities. Meet deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITY/OVERSIGHT – FINANCIAL & SUPERVISORY:

• Develop and administers departmental budget.
• Ensure program compliance with TNC polices and procedures and external (donor/legal) requirements.

• Work with and communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including employees, the public, vendors, and people with different cultural backgrounds in order to develop, negotiate, and or implement programs and projects.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
• Work requires only minor physical exertion and/or strain.  Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment and manage deadlines. 
• May require willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
