Description

Description of the job

Salary £24,530 - £27,370

The role

We are seeking pro-active and forward thinking environmental assessment practitioners (various levels) to support and help drive forward the delivery of a wide range of capital works projects, primarily flood and coastal defence schemes. You’ll be exposed to a wide range of experiences from environmental risk management, stakeholder engagement, leading our environmental framework suppliers and driving forward the delivery of environmental outcomes.  The work is challenging and often high profile.

The team

The National Environmental Assessment Service (NEAS) is responsible for managing the environmental impact of the Environment Agency’s own multi-million pound capital and revenue programmes. You’ll be part of a dedicated team of environmental project managers and technical specialists. Working closely with specialists from across the Environment Agency, statutory bodies, consultants and contractors, you will ensure that our projects have minimal environmental impact, uphold high standards in environmental design and contribute to national and regional environmental targets.

Experience/skills required

As an environmental project manager, you’ll have an appropriate level of experience for the role applied for within the field of EIA and/or SEA. You’ll be able to demonstrate your ability to effectively communicate across the business at all levels and with our external partners and stakeholders. Your influencing and negotiating skills will be key in addressing environmental issues and delivering outcomes. You’ll also be a champion and a strong leader with regard to environmental risk management. You’re likely to have some project management skills and some experience of either managing or writing environmental assessments.

You’ll be qualified in an environmental discipline, or have equivalent qualifications, as well as professional membership of IEMA, IEEM or CIWEM. Ideally you’ll also have PRINCE 2 Foundation status, or be willing to work towards it.
