We are seeking a Project Manager with a minimum of seven years of experience in environmental consulting to lead and support projects for local public agency and private-sector clients for the following service areas:

• Environmental characterization and compliance;
• Water and air quality;
• Hazardous materials, hazardous waste, site assessment, and risk assessment;
• Environmental review, permitting, design and analysis;
• Geographic information systems management;
• Environmental planning; and,
• Environmental engineering.

This position is based in our Emeryville office, with some travel to other Weiss offices and various job sites in the San Francisco Bay Area.

This position will report to a Principal Engineer.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing complex technical and cost proposals, project budgets and schedules; providing clients with positive and prompt communication; performing technical work, and coordinating and reviewing the technical work of Weiss and subcontracted engineers, geologists and scientists; monitoring performance of work for contract compliance; mentoring junior staff; adhering to Weiss policies and programs for quality assurance, and health and safety; and, promoting a positive and considerate work environment where quality of work and client service are paramount.

The successful candidate must have:

• A minimum of three years of project management experience;
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills with emphasis on clarity, thoughtfulness, organization, and overall responsiveness to client requests;
• Strong budget and schedule management skills;
• Knowledge of current local, state, and federal regulations, and related contracting, environmental, and health and safety issues;
• Ability to supervise technical work performed by junior staff;
• Capacity and flexibility to complete high quality work in a timely manner;
• Ability to perform on short notice and manage multiple disciplines; and,
• Familiarity with the administration of as-needed public agency contracts including local business utilization, contract terms and conditions, cost accounting, invoicing procedures, and other administrative functions.

 

The position requires a BA/BS degree in engineering, geology, or other related field, and at least seven years of progressive experience successfully conducting and managing environmental projects. The candidate must be interested in developing business from existing and new clients. Professional Engineer, Professional Geologist or other equivalent registration, and an advanced degree are highly desirable.
