The Facilities Department of Worcestershire Mental Health Partnership Trust manages a portfolio of over 40 sites within the NHS. These range from acute hospitals down to small health centre, clinics and residential homes. The total annual bill for energy and water use is approaching £1m. The cost of waste management is also very significant. In common with all NHS estates, Worcestershire MHP is under increasing financial and regulatory pressure to actively manage its environmental performance. This includes improving the monitoring and targeting of energy performance, measuring carbon emissions and raising staff awareness. The primary goal of the Worcestershire MHP Trust is to improve the health and lives of clients and patients. However, the importance of environmental management is an important contributory factor in achieving this goal
