Duties/Role My client is currently seeking an Environmental Officer who has sound working knowledge of environmental impacts within the construction field to work on a contract that involves the construction of an 11km pipeline in Soyo, far Northern Angola. This is a contract position lasting 14 months. The incumbent will carry out day to day monitoring and testing duties, waste management of the site and the construction camp and general environmental management of the construction site. The candidate will work within the approved EMP, Waste Management Plan, Pollution Control & Spill Response and the Community & Employment Plans and will need to develop a reinstatement plan and testing and monitoring plan. The EMS is based on the World Bank Guidelines/IFC. RequirementsAs there are a number of wetlands and river crossings a good knowledge of working with water and the monitoring thereof would be essential.Pipeline experience is preferred as is experience working outside of South Africa.At least 2 years environmental management experience within a construction environment. Additional InformationLeave is 2 weeks after every 10 weeks and all accommodation travel etc will be covered by the project. The new 200 man camp has a doctor/clinic and we have helicopter evacuation if required.A valid passport is essential for Visa requirements
