We are seeking a Leader for our Environmental Modelling Systems Team, a team of domain aware software engineers, providing them with leadership and guidance. The Leader will engage with staff from CSIRO’s flagship programs such as Water for a Healthy Country and Sustainable Agriculture around staff allocation, project management, business development and science leadership. In particular the Leader ensures use and adoption of best practice software development and adoption of cutting edge technologies to maximise the impact of CSIRO’s science.

The Leader is also responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Environmental Modelling Systems Team and ensuring that the technical capacity remains current and focussed.

Location:  Dutton Park, Brisbane or Black Mountain, Canberra

Salary:     $99K - $116K per annum plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Tenure: Indefinite/Ongoing

Requirements of the successful candidate will include:

  • Tertiary Degree in relevant area (computer/information sciences or environmental sciences,) or equivalent competencies and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, lead projects, liaise with clients, partners and executive team members and collaborate with industry colleagues.
  • Demonstrated experience with software development technologies and toolsets, especially in the areas of environmental modelling.

The Environmental Modelling Systems Team is a core element of CSIRO’s Environmental Information Systems Research Program focusing on supporting science through the development of leading edge modelling tools and systems in the domains of hydrology, landscape science, carbon and the environment.
